Is Genetics really a new science?
12.04.03 (2:33 pm) [edit]
Now that they claim that the human genome project is completed, it may take a while for the "smoke to clear", or as some conspiracy theorists may suggest, "for the evidence to be hidden".
It seems that there are some genes (very few, however) that are in our roadmap but do not have a place in anything else on the planet. Some are present in bacteria.
One says 223, the other says 40. Either way, if those genes did not evolve on earth, how did they get in us?
Here is the layman's scoop on this issue
Here is another writeup, a little more technical this time, that suggests that these genes may be identified eventually.
Here is another, way more technical and in-depth Research Paper
The implications are that evolution is only partly responsible for our apparent intelligience and domination of this little rock. We may have been changed by bacterial infection?
On the other side of the coin, this may also be the proof that has been anticipated by creationists that "God" created us (apparently by modifying our genes)
IMHO I have a problem with both assumptions: If bacterial infection could change our genetic structure, then we could not possibly be safe from this change repeatedly in short periods of time. We would all be mutants, hardly similar to our own family members.
On the other hand, if an omnipotent "God" created us, there would be no need to "modify" anything earthly to perform the feat.
My real question is this: Is there any natural way that we could have received these genes without depending on the other two flawed assumptions? If not, then WHO?
Who genetically manipulated us and for what purpose?
I think it is no accident that the ancient symbol of the medical profession (cadeuseus) is strangely reminiscent of an only recently discovered DNA strand.

The Garden of Eden...
12.03.03 (9:24 am) [edit]
What good would it have done mankind if Adam and Eve would have stayed in the garden of Eden? No sin or transgression would have been committed, but there would never have been mankind either. Here Adam. Here is the sweet fruit, but you can't have any. Meanwhile, you should keep eating the same old. Next, you should multiply, but you can't do that until you figure out the riddle of good and evil. Oh, by the way, the fruit you can't have is called knowledge of good and evil. It is bad for you, so stay away from it.
Well we all know the story right? The serpent tempts Eve, who gets smart enough to tempt Adam, who then figures out that the emperors have no clothes, This all gets blamed on the serpent who was doing what all good serpents do anyway. Meanwhile, the old fruit (tree of life) is now dangerous and the newly self aware godlings are thrust out of the garden to make their own way.
Consider a twist to the story. Adam and Eve are representative of a race of lab rats in a breeding program. The serpent represents DNA. The object is to create beings who can follow orders, but not reason or judge. Gene therapy is introduced into the females first. After a few generations, they all become self aware and figure things out. They also become fertile. Self awareness crosses the line of morality for the scientists, so the breeding program must be discontinued. Meanwhile, humans are breeding like rabbits and filling a niche in the world ecology. The gods use them for their intended purpose anyway. Under the rule of the gods, they provide a ready workforce for mining precious metals and public works projects. They are also unruly, violent and prone to petty grudges. Their pre-human (neanderthal?) animal nature combining with their self-aware righteousness makes them tentatively controllable by whichever god wishes to do so.

120 million year-old topographical map found
11.14.03 (1:42 pm) [edit]
The Russians are at it again. These guys just do not have a sense of political decorum do they? Haven't they been let in on area 51 and all its propoganda? We can't let the population know about these things...they might go into a worldwide panic and start burning their birkenstocks!
It seems that this stone map has been constructed with the precision attributed to today's laser technology. It shows public works projects that (were) in place in the area during that time. What time? well, er...120 million years ago.

footprints in the sand...150 million B.C.???
11.14.03 (1:30 pm) [edit]
OK, here is my first attempt to imbed an url in my one-sided conversation. This one is a reference to the giant "human" footprints found in 150 million year old strata. [i]Blimey! that would make humans available as a food source for the TRex, wouldn't it?[/i]

Xanthur, What the dickens are you talking about?

Sure, we have a pretty reasonable view of what happened with mankind from about 6 thousand years ago until present time, but much before that is shrouded in legend and mystery. Modern sciences of paleology and archaeology assert that before recorded civilization, humans were largely hunter-gatherers who lived in caves, made stone and copper implements, and invented stories of powerful gods to help them explain their surroundings. I am convinced the stories are about real people. Not supernatural beings, just a knowledgeable and arrogant bunch of technocrats.

Ooparts or archaeological outliers
11.14.03 (12:35 pm) [edit]
Modern scientific conclusions are based on statistics. If we find enough sites with notched animal bones, stone knives, and human remains at a certain depth in the ground (strata) that represents a particular time period, we can start to piece together statistics regarding the lifestyle and technology level of humans during that time. Conversely, if a soda can is unearthed in the same depth, the can is recognized as recent technology and regarded as a contamination, and therefore considered an outlier in the statistical population. Just as it should be
What happens if an object is found that has no precedence in our technology. Say, metal wire embedded in solid rock or a sandaled footprint in undisturbed sandstone next to dinosaur tracks. Well, this poses a problem. The artifact "must" have been formed at a date so far back in time as to be completely separated from humans according to currently accepted facts. These "artifacts" become "outlier" data and consequently ignored.
Some other examples are accurate relief maps carved in solid dolomite, quartz skulls carved against the crystalline structure, nanotech, battery power, electric lights, bridges, dams, aircraft models, a spark plug-like device extracted from a piece of coal, a mechanical navigation instrument, and written accounts (with physical evidence present) of atomic bombs to name a few. Sure, these are isolated instances, but some are duplicated at least once in other parts of the world and none are taken seriously by the scientific community.
Next consider ancient legends and writings that describe plural gods of fantastic powers. Zeus who could throw lightning bolts, Indian gods who rode in flying ships called vimanas, and Egyptian gods that could raise the dead.
